Whats the diffrence between hair highlights and lowlights?

Im asking because im trying to dye my hair myself this weekend.Whats the diffrence between hair highlights and lowlights?
Highlights usually consist of a hair color lighter than your natural color. Strips of hair from the top portion of your head are dyed lighter to give the ';highlight'; look.





Lowlights are usually darker shades, and are usually dyed underneath your top layers of hair.Whats the diffrence between hair highlights and lowlights?

Highlights are usually blondes and golden shades, they are brighter and lighter than your natural shade(or the color you want all over. Low lights are the opposite. They are darker than your natural shade(or all over color) and usually are reds,black,dark browns. Hope this helps
