Hair highlight choices for asian hair?

Im asian and i recently dyed my hair reddish brown but mostly brown and originally my hair's medium brown. The dye before didn't really work out for me, it had only a little tint of red and the brown's like only a shade lighter. My skin isn't too pale or too dark it's in the middle... anyhow I was thinking of combinations of audburns, brown and blonde any better suggestions?Hair highlight choices for asian hair?

The problem with having Asian hair is the fact that it tends to be very dark and not very porous (in other words the cuticle of your hair is much harder to penetrate). Does your hair hold water pretty well after you wet it in the shower and does it take a long time to dry with the hair dryer? In most cases with mostly ethnic hair types it is course, doesn't hold water very well, and dries fairly quickly. This is the result of low porousity and can effect different types of chemical processing including hair coloring, bleaching, perms, or relaxers due to the difficulty of penetrating your hair's cuticles. The problem you need to consider now is the fact that you just recently dyed your hair. Do you color your hair quite often or did you have color on your hair already from a previous dye job? If so, this could be the reason why your hair did not lighten to your desired level when you recently dyed it. Color alone does not lift color unless it is what we call in the hair industry as ';virgin hair';, meaning that it has no color on the hair at the time of the color job. The only way to get it to a lighter color now is to bleach out where you want it lighter. There's several problems with this I need to warn you about before you venture further in your color desires. One. You just recently dyed your hair and it would not be wise to do it again too soon, especially if you did it yourself at home with box color. If you still insist in coloring it again, which in this case, as mentioned earlier, bleach it, I recommend you visit a salon and talk to them about what you're wanting and have them do a strand test first. It's time consuming but it's better to be safe than sorry. You don't want your hair turning to gum do you? Bleach that is used on hair to lift to a lighter hair color is extremely harsh on the condition of your hair. Second. Since you did in fact just color your hair and a red tone was a choice of your preference then when it is bleached it will most likely without a doubt turn orange. Simple elementary colorology. Yellow (ie the bleach that will make hair blonde) + the red tones you have recently put into your hair = ORANGE. This is another reason I highly suggest you go to a salon. Going to a salon will not prevent the orange hair but don't freak out cause you won't leave the salon with orange hair. The color job you're desiring will require a two step process. The bleaching and then the toning (which will cancel out the orange tones) or depositing color. Which ever you desire. Regardless, the only way to go lighter now is to bleach it. I hate to sound like a kill joy but I'm just telling you the truth about it as I am a cosmetologist myself and know what I'm talking about. I have fixed many color problems myself that have come into the salon I'm at. I hope this will help you out now that you know what you're up against and getting yourself into. It'll probably be pricey as well, but in the long run it'll be cheaper if you attempt it yourself and ruin your hair. Then when a stylist does have to fix it the money will really add up. Good luck to you and I don't envy the stylist that will have to do it cause they're in for quite a task. No offense to you of course, just stating the truth.
